Kentucky is home. My family has been here for generations, it’s where my wife Chris and I are raising our three young kids, and there’s nothing I wouldn’t do to make sure everyone feels like this is a place where their family can live and grow, too.

But here’s the honest truth: When our friends and neighbors needed help recovering from the pandemic, what did right-wing Kentucky politicians like Mitch McConnell in Washington do? They opposed much-need relief like $1400 checks and extended unemployment benefits.

Kentucky families deserve better. And throughout my time as Democratic Senate Leader, I’ve worked hard to make sure Kentuckians have access to affordable health care, good public schools, freedom from discrimination, and better voting opportunities.

That is why I’m excited to be running to represent Kentucky’s 3rd District in Congress.

This is currently Kentucky’s only Democratic district, and we’re sure to be up against GOP mega-donors who want to flip it red. Our campaign set a goal to bring in 1,000 Founding Donors in the first 72 hours. We’re thrilled with the progress we’ve made so far, but we still need 542 more to reach our goal. Democrats can’t back down now because not only are millions of Kentuckians depending on us, but with control of the House of Representatives potentially coming down to a handful of seats, it is critical we keep this seat blue.

But if we are going to help our workers, Democrats must grow our party. We can’t just compete in deep blue areas; we need to be a party that gives voters a choice in all parts of the country. And that’s why I’m running.

I believe Democrats can win anywhere if we go everywhere. But we need to present a bold vision and clear values. We need to meet voters where they are. And show them how we can make their lives better and help them reach their dreams.
