A few days ago, we asked if you could sign on to our petition in support
of Julius Jones, an innocent Black man in Oklahoma who’s facing execution
in 33 days for a crime he never committed.

Today, our partner organization, Grassroots Law, is officially launching a
campaign to free him.

The DA in this case, David Prater, has been CONSISTENTLY undermining the
Pardon and Parole Board’s findings — even though the Board decided to
commute his sentence to life with the possibility of parole.

It’s a disgrace. And the simple truth is, if we didn’t have a DA like
David Prater in power — and instead had someone like Larry Krasner,
Rachael Rollins, Chesa Boudin, or Jose Garza — Julius Jones would not be
facing execution. He would be a safe and free man.

There are countless more people like Julius Jones out there —
incarcerated, brutalized, and murdered by the so-called “justice" system.

And for every victim of this system, if you look close enough, you can
find a District Attorney like David Prater either enabling the injustice
directly, or cravenly turning a blind eye to it.

We’re putting resources into supporting the DAs that we have helped elect,
identifying upcoming DA races in 2022, and defending against the attacks
from extremist right wing billionaire and dark money groups who would
rather uphold this same ‘justice’ system so they can stand to profit.
