We are ALL experiencing the impact of accelerating climate change — more intense storms, more extreme heat, uncontrollable fires, and rising sea levels which are threatening, and in some cases, already sinking our coastal communities.
Climate change is happening here and now. And we need to act now if we are going to address it within the timetable that Mother Nature dictates.
That's why President Biden's Build Back Better agenda includes robust support for actions to address climate change — and we must keep them in the plan. Failure to do so would be a dereliction of duty.
The climate provisions in our Build Back Better legislation are critical to our future. They will help us avert the worst impact of catastrophic climate-related disasters — and will save lives. They should also ensure that the biggest polluters help pay to clean up their mess.
And addressing climate change is not only about preventing catastrophe; it is also about seizing the opportunity to create millions of good paying, homegrown clean energy jobs across our country as we work to cut greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030 and achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
