Learn about The Prison Inreach Relational Voter Program November 12!
Join Transformational Justice in Action on November 12 at 2 p.m. CT (3 p.m. ET/12 p.m. PT) to learn more about the Prison Inreach Relational Voter Program. This project was highly successful during the 2020 election cycle and gave people who were incarcerated the opportunity to participate in the election, whether or not they were able to vote.

What We're Reading
The Sentencing Project's Color of Justice Report
According to The Sentencing Project, nearly 5 times as many Black Americans are incarcerated as white Americans. 1.3 times as many Latinx Americans are incarcerated as white Americans. Wisconsin leads the nation in the incarceration of Black people: 2,742 of every 100,000 Black Wisconsinites are incarcerated.
"It is clear that the outcome of mass incarceration today has not occurred by happenstance, but has been designed through policies created by a dominant white culture that insists on suppression of others," writes the report's author, Ashley Nellis, PhD.
Gamaliel and the Transformational Justice in Action Campaign (TJA) are in agreement with the findings of this report. We support the Sentencing Project's recommendations to mitigate the racial injustice of the war on drugs, measure the impact of crime policies on all demographics, and enact proportional sentencing, and we hope to work with them toward these and future policies.
In the coming days, we will post reactions to this report from members of EXPO (Ex Incarcerated Persons Organizing) and TJA, and we'll talk about the ways in which we're working toward a future in which these recommendations are adopted.
