Take action online for the People vs. Fossil Fuels mobilization!
John,
This week, Food & Water Watch supporters joined thousands of others at the People vs. Fossil Fuels mobilization to send a wake-up call to President Biden and the political establishment in Washington, D.C.
It’s been one of the largest civil disobedience actions in decades! Over 530 people engaged in peaceful civil disobedience and were arrested in front of the White House so far this week.
Indigenous water protectors, climate activists, and frontline leaders impacted by fracking, pipelines, refineries and other fossil fuel projects from across the country have led protests outside the White House to demand that President Biden stop all new fossil fuel projects and declare a climate emergency. Today, young people are gathering for a historic march to Congress.
President Biden called the climate crisis “an existential threat.” Yet his administration continues to issue permits for fracking on federal lands and support fossil fuel projects from Alaska to the Gulf Coast.
Fossil fuel pollution is harming millions of people across the globe, and we know things will only get worse if we don’t transition away from dirty energy immediately. President Biden has the power to stop disastrous fossil fuel projects and protect the climate we all depend on. We can’t allow the era of fossil fuels to continue.
President Biden must use his executive authority to:
Halt the approval of new fossil fuel projects
Nominate environmental justice champions to serve at every level of his administration
This week, we united fossil fuel fights across the United States, from the struggle to stop petrochemical and liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facilities in the Gulf, to efforts to stop the Line 3 tar sands pipeline, to the fight against drilling on public lands.
It’s up to us to force President Biden and our congressional representatives to meet this moment, follow the science, and fight for the communities most impacted by pollution and climate disasters. That's why thousands of people took action this week.
Food & Water Watch and its affiliated organization, Food & Water Action, are advocacy groups with a common mission to protect our food, water and climate.
