Triple your impact for the environment today? ? ? ? ? Friend ? we just got a chance to partially reverse one of the most far-reaching and destructive anti-environment policies of Trump's presidency ? and we need your help.
In the final months of his presidency, Trump completely gutted implementation of NEPA, the National Environmental Policy Act, which requires that projects like pipelines, highways, and drilling operations be evaluated for their environmental impact ? and gives affected communities the chance to give input on these projects before they can proceed.
The White House has just announced a plan to reverse parts of Trump's decision.
This is huge, but there's a catch: There will be a 45 day public comment period before the policy can take effect. Every indication is that corporate polluters will attempt to derail the effort to analyze the climate and other impacts of major projects.
We can't let that happen. The truth is, winning is going to come down to grassroots pressure, and we're aiming to raise $50,000 by the end of the month to keep our campaigns running. If everyone reading this right now pitched in ? even $5 ? we'd blow through that goal in minutes. So we're asking:
TRIPLE YOUR IMPACT: Make a donation today, and a group of donors will triple match your contribution. Every dollar will help run grassroots campaigns to go toe-to-toe with corporate polluters and their lobbyists. Even $5 helps ? [link removed]
Without laws like NEPA functioning as they were intended, only the most powerful special interests determine which projects move forward and which do not. If we don't restore these critical reviews, public input, and protections, people will have their input blocked on hazardous projects that threaten the health and safety of our communities.
Historically marginalized communities have the most to lose here. Despite being subjected to pollution and other environmental hazards at alarming rates, low-wealth and communities of color had their power to object to dangerous projects stolen away under the Trump-era rules.
By restoring some of NEPA's environmental review and alternative projects assessment provisions, Biden is taking an initial step to give these and other communities a fighting chance to fight back against hazardous pollution and environmental racism while protecting their families and property.
Corporate polluters and their lobbyists are already trying to pressure the administration to preserve the Trump-era rule. We can't let them win, friend.
Please, chip in today to power our grassroots campaign. Your donation of just $5 or more will help keep up the fight to restore critical environmental protections. Give today and your donation will go three times as far ? [link removed]
I know that we can win this, friend. Just this month, Indigenous communities and the environmental movement won a huge victory when the White House restored protections to Bears Ears, Grand Staircase-Escalante and Northeast Canyons and Seamounts. With Trump out of office, victory is so close on so many critical environmental issues. Please, help power our campaign to make this a reality.
Give $5 today and triple your impact for the environment ? [link removed]
Thank you again for everything that you do.
