Call for exhibits: Art at Village Hall 2022
Art at Village Hall
Application opens Monday to hang in our Village Hall gallery in 2022

The Oswego Cultural Arts Commission is inviting local artists to submit exhibit proposals to be displayed in Oswego Village Hall throughout 2022.

In 2021, the Village of Oswego Cultural Arts Commission developed a space in Oswego Village Hall to celebrate the world of local artists, offer artists a venue to showcase their work, and expose Oswego residents to the visual arts.

The Commission is seeking artists and artist collectives interested in showcasing their work or curating exhibits in four shows throughout the 2022 season. Exhibits will be hung in February, May, August, and November, and will hang for approximately ten to twelve weeks.

Individual artists, groups of artists, and curators interested in developing an exhibit are invited to submit exhibit proposals for consideration. The Oswego Village Hall exhibit space includes a track hanging system suitable for two-dimensional art, hung within two sections of the lobby.  Section One is 17.5 feet wide by 8.6 feet high and Section Two is 6.5 feet wide by 9.8 feet high. Limited display space is also available for three-dimensional art no larger than 4 inches in depth and 4 inches in height.

The deadline to apply to exhibit in 2022 is Monday, Dec. 6, 2021. Work will be selected by the Cultural Arts Commission to build a rotating collection that highlights the diversity of artistic expression in Oswego. Works by both youth and adult artists will be considered. Artists should consider the public audience and setting of the exhibit when considering which pieces to submit for consideration.

Selected artists are not compensated for their work; however, artists may choose to submit work that is for sale and include pricing and contact information as a part of the installation. Selected artists will be recognized at an Oswego Village Board meeting.
