Dear John,
I urge you to take a moment right now to contact your U.S. Senators and demand they support legislation that will curtail the perks and privileges provided to former U.S. Presidents – at taxpayer expense.
S. 580, the Presidential Allowance and Modernization Act, or “Presidential Perks bill,” would put limits on the taxpayer-funded benefits that Presidents receive after they leave office, like generous pensions and the coverage of expenses for travel, office space, and staff salaries.
Astonishingly, Presidents currently enjoy unlimited monetary allowances after they leave office, despite the fact that former Presidents have never had an easier time earning a comfortable living.
In an age when former Presidents rake in money with astronomical speaking fees, book deals, and Netflix contracts, the last thing they need are millions of dollars in taxpayer handouts!
Importantly, the Presidential Perks bill would NOT reduce funding for the security and protection of former Presidents.
John, the Presidential Perks bill passed the House with unanimous support on October 16. It’s now time to demand that the Senate immediately pass this bill and send it to President Trump for his signature.
Please tell your U.S. Senators right now to support the Presidential Allowance and Modernization Act!
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Allen Benjamin Johnson, III
Director of Government Affairs
