I joined the Navy when I was just 17 years old -- enrolling in the Naval Academy as a history and physics major, just 17 years after they began allowing women to serve.

I always had a knack for math and science, so I forged my own path as one of the first women in the Navy’s nuclear power program. While deployed to the Middle East, I oversaw eight nuclear reactors and was responsible for training all 700 nuclear operators onboard.

I spent the next 20 years dedicating myself to the Naval Academy’s mission to assume the highest responsibilities of command, citizenship, and government.

When I retired from the Navy, I wanted to focus on being a mom and managing my small business, but I couldn’t shake the desire to be doing more for the country I had served for the past two decades.

I wanted to be able to look my daughter in the eye and say that I stepped forward when my country needed me most. That’s why I decided to run for office in 2018.

But I didn’t get to Congress by myself. Our team defied the odds and flipped VA-02 in 2018 because of supporters like you who refused to back down -- and that’s how we went toe-to-toe with the full force of the GOP establishment and millions in dark money to hold this seat in 2020.

And I need your help to do it again, John. Early investments in 2018 and 2020 were key to us standing up to our Republican opponents, defying the odds, and winning.
