** OUR GROWING TEAM

As we begin the Fall season, we're grateful to have had the opportunity to grow our team. MCN introduced five new staff persons, each of whom are introduced below, and who will help us deepen and expand our impact throughout New York City. Let's take a look at some of the work we've already accomplished so far.

Our new Community Education Coordinator, Mama Sama, and Women's Program Coordinator, Musfika Moshahid, conducted a voter registration pop-up at Diversity Plaza, Queens. They helped folks learn about the Nov. 2nd general elections and registered people to vote.

Our community outreach team has outdone themselves by helping more than 200 community members file for the Excluded Workers Fund. Our new Community Service Coordinator, Adama Bah, and Mama Sama are at the forefront of helping our most vulnerable members apply for this fund. We hold community hubs each week in partnership with five mosques throughout the borough to help folks apply. A big shout out to:

96th Street Mosque, Manhattan
MCC Brooklyn
MAS Staten Island
and ICNA Masjid, Queens
and Belmont Islamic Center in the Bronx

We are also excited to ramp up our advocacy program with the joining of our new Advocacy Program Coordinator, Ajifanta Marenah. She will be organizing our communities on issues impacting our communities from helping advocate for policies that impact us and ensuring that we combat hate. Below is a picture of Ajifanta and Councilmember Vanessa Gibson endorsing Resolution 1257 ([link removed]) , which will help bring religious literacy into public schools.

And finally, we are excited to introduce Maryam Khaldi who is our exclusive Brooklyn Program Coordinator. She will work to deepen our impact in the borough of Brooklyn where she is from. Already she has helped us connect with partners and hold food drives. She is also helping us establish a Youth Advisory Council and expand our youth programs in Brooklyn.

From establishing Muslim women's civic empowerment programs, youth councils, to helping our community members apply to the Fund for Excluded Workers and other public benefits like rental assistance, and advocating on the issues important to our communities, our team is ready to roll!

With a growing team, MCN is gearing up to make an impact on our communities and we want you to be a part of this growing movement. Volunteer with us, donate, give us a shout-out on our Twitter ([link removed]) and Facebook ([link removed]) , give us a like and follow our work!

With Gratitude,

Aniqa Nawabi
Executive Director
