John,
I just had a check-in with our fundraising team, and they let me know that our numbers are tracking way behind where they should be at the mid-month mark.
Here’s what it comes down to: In order to have any chance at reaching our October budget target, we need at least 150 people to pitch in what they can by midnight.
I’ll say more about why this is so important in a moment, but we need your help ASAP to close this gap. Will you contribute $10, $25, $50 (or whatever works for you right now) to help us get there?
We talk about what’s at stake if Republicans take control of our state government next year – and for good reason – but it’s also important to focus on what we have to gain if we win.
We have a tremendous opportunity to win back the Minnesota Senate in 2022 and finally break through the endless, cynical GOP obstruction that has come to define their Party. The last time the DFL held the House, Senate, and Governor’s office, we legalized same-sex marriage, raised the minimum wage, made historic investments in health care and education, and so much more. Just imagine what we could accomplish with another majority like that.
Now, to be clear: We have an extraordinarily difficult road ahead of us. We are facing the headwinds of a midterm election in which our Party controls the White House, grappling with redistricting, and navigating a projected 40% drop in revenue without a statewide federal candidate on the ballot.
But my promise to you is this: The DFL Party is going to fight like hell to win up and down the ballot in 2022 because the positive impact we can have on people’s lives for generations to come if we do will be worth it.
Keeping our budget on track is the first step, which is why I’m asking once again: Please make a contribution that works for you by 11:59 pm to help us catch up this month.
Thank you,
Ken Martin
