Within 24 hours of the Supreme Court’s refusal to block Texas’ SB 8, lawmakers in Florida, Arkansas, Indiana, Mississippi, North Dakota, and South Dakota announced their plans to pursue similar legislation.

Today, anti-choice lawmakers in 12 states have voiced their intentions to pursue copycat legislation.

The permanent solution to all-out attacks on Roe v. Wade is a bill in Congress called the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA), which would safeguard the right to abortion throughout the United States. The bill has passed the House and now faces an uphill battle in the Senate.
