In just two weeks, on October 26, our growing movement for Court expansion will gather on the steps of the Supreme Court to make it clear: the American people will not sit by and watch Amy Coney Barrett, Brett Kavanaugh, and their cronies dismantle our democracy.
This fight couldn’t be more urgent. The Court’s extremist far-right majority is set to rule on the future of abortion access and whether or not states can make their own gun control laws this term. Kicking the can down the road is not an option. That’s why we need your help.
The call to expand the Court is growing louder every day. As Senator Tina Smith noted during our panel at Netroots Nation last week, inaction is not an option. But, time is running out. The conservative supermajority on the Court was busy this summer. In the span of 70 days, the Court attacked voting rights, workers’ rights, reproductive rights, asylum-seekers, and struggling renters.
And yet, our elected leaders in the Biden Administration and Congress are dragging their feet even though the solution for this steady degradation of our rights is written in the Constitution.
30+ Members of Congress have co-sponsored the Judiciary Act of 2021 which would add four seats to the Court. The rest of their colleagues need to know that their constituents expect them to take action to protect our democracy. Will you help us spread the word before it’s too late?
