Jack, the deadline to put letters in the mail to infrequent, but Democratic, voters in Virginia--and have those letters arrive before the November 2 gubernatorial election--is Saturday, October 16, 2021.
If you already pledged to write these Get Out The Vote letters but haven't finished them all, or if you were considering writing these letters but have not yet signed up, now is the time.
Please log in to, or sign up for, Vote Forward, and start writing letters to infrequent, but Democratic-leaning, Virginia voters who need that extra "nudge" to cast a ballot.

Here are eight reasons why you should write these letters:
-
Everyone can participate. It doesn't matter where you live. Everyone can write letters to infrequent, but Democratic, voters in Virginia.
-
You don't have to talk to anyone. This is a form of getting out the vote that doesn't require door knocking, phone calls, or sending texts. All you are doing is putting pen to paper, and then putting your letters in the mail.
-
Work at home by yourself. You do not have to attend any meetings, log on to any Zoom calls, or go anywhere at all. You can write the letters any time of day from the comfort of your own home.
-
Vote Forward really works. A rigorous, peer-reviewed study of the impact of Vote Forward in 2020 shows that people who received Vote Forward letters turned out at a rate 0.8 percentage points higher than voters in a control group who did not receive any letters. With 17 million letters mailed in 2020, this translates to 126,000 net votes for Joe Biden--more than enough to swing key states, such as Arizona, Georgia, and Wisconsin.
-
The election is really close. The FiveThirtyEight polling average in Virginia shows Democrat Terry McAuliffe only 2.5% ahead of Republican Glenn Youngkin. This is well within the margin of standard polling error.
-
Help avoid a landslide defeat in 2022. Biden won Virginia by ten points in 2020, so Democrats really better win it again if we want to avoid a landslide defeat in 2022.
-
Help pass Build Back Better--and keep it big. If The Build Back Better Act hasn't passed into law by November 2--and it probably will not have passed into law by that date--then it is entirely possible a Republican victory in Virginia could frighten Democratic moderates enough to further reduce the size of the bill or even to defeat it entirely.
-
We still need to write over 75,000 more letters. We really need your help to make sure that we are contacting every possible Virginia voter, Jack!
