John: Today, I'm asking you for $3. No more, no less. Can you chip in?
As the Finance Director for Team Bowman, I spend a lot of time thinking about how to make sure our movement has what it needs to in order to run smoothly. I give a lot of thought into how much we need to fundraise by specific dates in order to be able to carry out our plans for campaigning, outreach, and keeping Jamaal in Congress — something that we're all especially thinking about now that he has a challenger to his seat.
Unfortunately, even with this news, our fundraising is lagging behind — more than we were anticipating at this time of the month.
So, I crunched some numbers, and if at least one out of every 10 people who read this email give $3 (or more), we'll reach our mid-month goal to raise $5,000 over email — the minimum amount we need to get back on track — in no time.
I'll be the first to admit that keeping up strong fundraising for a grassroots, people-powered campaign can be a challenge. Our decision to reject all corporate PAC and lobbyist money doesn't make fundraising any easier — but John, it's the only way we'd ever run things.
Team Bowman supporters are educators, students, service industry workers, retirees, organizers, and more. That's who Jamaal answers to and works for in Congress — not dark money interests and whoever can cut the biggest checks.
And John, as we get closer and closer to 2022, it's inevitable we're going to face obstacles towards our movement.
Solidarity,
Jesse Guy-Herman, Finance Director
Bowman for Congress
