Hi Friend,

The news just broke: because of Texas Republicans’ law censoring our education system, teachers are being pushed to teach Holocaust denial in our schools.

Friend, since Republicans’ H.B. 3979 took effect last month, this hateful law is forcing educators to teach “both sides” of every issue -- whether it’s the Holocaust or slavery in the U.S. Today, a recording came out showing this Republican law is forcing Texas’ teachers to add Holocaust denial to the curriculum. Here’s exactly what the Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction for the Carroll Independent School District told teachers:

“Just try to remember the concepts of [House Bill] 3979...Make sure that if you have a book on the Holocaust, that you have one that has an opposing, that has other perspectives.”

This is an outrage, not only for Jewish communities across our state, but for every single parent sending their kids to school in the morning and worrying about what kinds of attacks they’ll face, simply because of who they are. There’s no place for antisemitism and hate -- in our state, in our laws, or in our classrooms. Enough is enough.

This is 2021. But because of Greg Abbott and Texas Republicans, our state is looking more and more like a dystopian novel. They don’t deserve to stay in office a single day longer -- but we can’t defeat them without your help. Will you chip in $7 right now to defeat Texas Republicans and show there’s no place for hate in our state?

Texas Republican lawmakers have made it clear that they are perfectly comfortable with our children learning revisionist history in the classroom. This is absolutely unacceptable. Texas Republicans are censoring education to pander to rightwing extremists -- and putting Texas families and kids in danger while they do.

Banned books, censored history, teachers reprimanded for giving kids the facts -- I’m sick and tired of these attacks on our kids and our schools. Kids have a right to learn about the world they’re growing up in. I’m asking you to show up right now and defend it.
