HAWAII REPUBLICAN CHAIR RESIGNS
HONOLULU, HI – Signe Godfrey, chairman of the Hawaii Republican Party, today announced she was resigning the post and endorsed First Vice Chair Lynn Finnegan to assume the role of Interim Chair. Godfrey, a former small business owner, said she would remain active in the party and wanted to focus on recruiting candidates for next year’s state legislative races.
“Lynn has been active in party activities having served as a former legislator and Party official. She is also the author of our Action Plan and Budget plan,” Godfrey said in announcing her move. Finnegan also ran for Lieutenant Governor in 2010.
Godfrey said she was encouraged by the quality of Republican candidates being recruited for next year’s races. She said Finnegan’s experience successfully running for office would be an asset in the upcoming election.
“I will continue my role as an active Republican official and a great supporter of the candidates now being pursued to lead our state. It is important that Hawaii have a two-party system and we must work together, united, in that effort,” Godfrey said.
“I’m excited about the 2022 elections. The Hawaii Republican Party has met with a number of highly qualified candidates for district and statewide races,” Finnegan said.
