CNN: Appeals court puts temporary hold on judge's order blocking Texas 6-week abortion ban

Last Wednesday, a federal judge ordered the immediate suspension of the cruel and unconstitutional Texas abortion ban -- which outlawed abortion after six weeks, before most women know they are pregnant.

Unfortunately, this victory for reproductive rights was short-lived, John.

Shortly after this ruling, a federal appeals court put a temporary hold on the judge's order -- effectively reinstating this harmful and dangerous legislation.

Now, we must fight harder than ever to protect reproductive rights -- so all women and pregnant folks can safely and legally access reproductive health care without government intervention.

When the latest Texas abortion law took effect, the impact on women's health and abortion providers was swift and devastating.

Immediately after the law went into effect, organizations like Planned Parenthood and health clinics around the state had to stop providing abortion care -- forcing millions of women and pregnant people to take matters into their own hands and drive hundreds of miles out of state for this lifesaving health care.

And what's even worse, John, is that the Texas law is not an anomaly.

GOP lawmakers in Florida and Mississippi have introduced similar bans on abortion, and we know these type of bills will continue if the right to choose is not rigorously defended by Congress and the Supreme Court.
