For decades raising the debt ceiling has been a procedural role of Congress. Now, Republicans are using it as a desperate political power grab.

There is no precedent for this kind of behavior. Democrats voted with Republicans to raise the debt ceiling multiple times under Trump and Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell has voted 32 separate times to raise the debt limit.

The filibuster is letting a minority of Senators control the livelihoods of millions of Americans. We must take action now to put an end to this reckless behavior.
