I couldn’t have put it better myself, Team. Sen. Warnock is absolutely right: preserving our right to vote preserves every other right we have in this country.
Voting discrimination is not an issue of the past. It is kept alive and well in the 21st century by those who value our democracy less than their own ambitions. Introducing the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act in the Senate was a critical first step toward preserving our right to vote.
But we have to do more than that if we want our rights to be upheld. Team, will you sign on to show the Senate that you support protecting our voting rights?
The past few elections have highlighted the need to protect voting rights at the federal level. Since the expiration of the Voting Rights Act, several states have pushed through discriminatory laws that make it harder for people to exercise their right to vote.
Sen. Warnock has raised the alarm.
We must protect our right to vote. And the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act is that protection. Getting this critical piece of legislation out of the Senate and on President Biden’s desk is of the utmost importance.
We need you to raise your voice in support of voting rights. Will you sign on to protect our right to vote?
In solidarity,
Susie Lee
