The temperature here in Washington, DC, is expected to soar above 100
degrees today with a heat index approaching 115. This is dangerous,
life-threatening heat. And yet, it's hardly been a week since
Trump stood in the East Room, with EPA chief and former coal lobbyist
Andrew Wheeler by his side, and made an Orwellian promise to fight for
"a cleaner environment and a better quality of life for every
one of our great citizens."

I don't know how you can deny climate change while claiming to
care for "a cleaner environment." And life-threatening
heat waves aren't my idea of a better quality of life.

If you believe, like we do, that protecting American lives demands
swift and bold climate action, please make a contribution to our
Summer Match campaign.

Your gift today will be matched $1-for-$1 to fight the Trump
administration's attempted regulatory rollbacks on critical
climate protections like the Clean Power Plan, Clean Cars Standards
and more.

This weekend's historic heat wave, made more grueling by
oppressive humidity brought ashore by Hurricane Barry, is putting
lives at risk across more than half of the Lower 48.

Perhaps Trump doesn't think "every one of our great
citizens" includes children, the elderly, athletes who practice
outdoors, or those with chronic health conditions all of whom are
especially vulnerable to heat-related illness and even death this
weekend.

Yesterday, Washington news outfit Politico reported that in the early
days of Trump's administration, a senior official at USDA
quashed the release of a strategic, multi-year plan intended to
mitigate the worst effects of climate change on the health and
wellbeing of Americans.

Contrary to Trump's empty promise, his administration's
policy of suppressing climate information while giving industry
license to dump unlimited climate pollution into our atmosphere will
have dire - even deadly - consequences for every one of our
great citizens.

We know we can't count on Trump or his appointees to protect us.
But I hope we can count on each other. And I hope we can count on you.

Will you make your Summer Match contribution and claim your matching
funds before it's too late?

Every $1 you give will unlock another $1 to fight Trump's
pro-polluter agenda.

Until we have a President in the White House who believes in science
and cares about protecting us, it's up to us to do everything we
can to protect each other.

Thank you for doing everything you can,

Emily Stevenson

P.S. With fewer than 2 weeks to go, we're
less than $26,000 away from reaching our $250,000 goal by August
1. Your donation is urgently needed to help close the gap. Thanks to
the $1-for-$1 match, your gift of $35 will be worth
$70 to fight for a livable climate in our
children's future.
