The pain of higher prices on necessities like gas is being felt by households here and now. Middle-class families may absorb the costs for now, but poor, elderly, and low-income families are the hardest hit and least able to afford it.
It’s a hidden tax; any pay increases workers received are consumed by higher prices.
Adding to the bad inflation news: supply-chain disruptions will not only mean high prices for some time, but also significant delays on deliveries and shortages of goods like Christmas gifts.
Washington has flooded the economy with cash, so it’s no surprise that we are battling inflation, as Americans are spending more. That’s why we cannot afford trillions of dollars more in federal spending by Congress if we are ever to get back to the days of low or no inflation.
