Survey Finds Majority of Parents of Children 5-11 Plan to Get Them the COVID-19 Vaccine
Two-thirds of parents with children ages 5-11 years old say they are likely to get them vaccinated against COVID-19 once a vaccine is authorized for that age group, according to new survey data of parents with children ages 5-18 years old, released today by the COVID-19 Vaccine Education and Equity Project – a group of more than 225 leading organizations including the National Association of School Nurses.

Clinical Practice Guideline: Medication Administration in Schools
School nurses care for 56.4 million students in elementary, middle, and high school across the United States, 25% of whom have chronic conditions and many of whom require medication during the school day. NASN's guideline seeks to create a uniform clinical practice for the administration of medication in schools, and to give the school nurse evidence-based recommendations for the safe care of Pre-K-12 students who receive medications during the day.

Nurses Asked to Complete Survey on Racism in the Workplace
The National Commission to Address Racism in Nursing is calling nurses from all backgrounds, races, and ethnicities to complete a survey about racism in the workplace to help capture perceptions and lived experiences to further understand the impact of racism on the nursing profession and patient outcomes. Complete the survey.
National School Psychology Week is November 8-12
During the week of November 8-12, schools throughout the U.S. will celebrate National School Psychology Week to highlight the important work school psychologists and other educators do to help all students thrive. This year's theme is "Let's Get in Gear." The theme's acronym provides a challenge to grow both personally and professionally. It encourages us to engage in best practices and advocate for children's access to mental health and learning supports.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, annual influenza (flu) vaccination is critical to help prevent flu and related complications. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, COVID-19 vaccines may be given at the same time as other vaccines, including influenza vaccines. American Academy of Pediatrics Return to Learn After Concussion ECHO:
Telementoring for School Nurses (.75 CNE)
Returning to Learn (RTL) after a concussion presents unique challenges for professionals who work with children. Much responsibility falls on school nurses. In 2019, using the evidence-based telementoring program, Project ECHO® (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes), the American Academy of Pediatrics implemented RTL ECHO to improve school-based professionals’ management of students with concussions. By taking this course, learners will become comfortable and confident with the utilization of a Project ECHO model of dissemination of Return to Learn after concussion resources. This course is part of the new NASN Lunch & Learn Series and is now available in the NASN Learning Center.
