For years, Big Pharma has forced the American people to choose between paying for necessities like food and housing or filling their prescriptions.
In the course of 20 years, the price of insulin skyrocketed over 700% — making it unaffordable or extremely costly for over one million Georgians living with diabetes.
This is not an issue unique to insulin and diabetes patients. Prescription drug prices in the U.S. are out of reach for too many Americans.
It never had to be this way. In 2003, the GOP made it impossible for Medicare to negotiate and lower drug prices in bulk — giving all the power to big pharmaceutical companies.
Big Pharma will always put their bottom line over the American people, and I am ready to do something about it. That is why I am working with my colleagues in Congress to give the negotiating power back to Medicare.
