Today, we’re thrilled to announce our last three candidate endorsements in 2021! With this final round, we’re now up to 45 endorsements and 9 NALAF Champions in 13 states—the most New Americans we’ve ever endorsed to run for office.

In just a few short weeks, Americans will head to the polls to make their voices heard in the 2021 elections. The stakes couldn’t be higher. From anti-mask protests at school board meetings to attacks on women's bodily autonomy in state legislatures and national attacks on our voting rights, it’s clear that we need new leadership, our democracy needs better stewards. This means voting in a new generation of bold, inclusive New American leaders in Massachusetts, New York, Ohio, and all across the country.

Now let’s meet our final three endorsed candidates in 2021!

Ukeme Awakessien Jeter is a first generation Nigerian American and innovative leader who’s running for Upper Arlington City Council in Ohio. She has a progressive vision for Upper Arlington, which involves making the city more welcoming for diverse and marginalized communities by creating safe and affordable housing and making transportation more accessible. If elected, she will be the first immigrant and person of color on the Upper Arlington City Council.

Linda Lee is a second generation Korean American and native New Yorker who’s running for New York City Council because she wants to be a voice for immigrants, seniors, and other marginalized community members in Eastern Queens. She won her primary election in June and, if she comes out on top in the general election, she will be one of the first Korean American city councilmembers.

Will Mbah is a first generation Cameroonian American who became a U.S. citizen in 2015, was inspired to run for office after the 2016 presidential election, and then was elected to the Somerville City Council in Massachusetts in 2017. If elected, he will be the first Black and person of color mayor of a city where Black Americans make up less than 7% of the population.
