Read Jasmine's Story
Domestic violence can take many forms. Whether physical, emotional, or verbal, uplifting the voices of survivors is crucial in reducing stigma and getting resources in the hands of those who need it most. When Jasmine* reached out to ACCESS for help, she was battling homelessness and verbal abuse from her now ex-boyfriend.
“It was difficult because I was homeless for almost a year,” she says. “My ex, he was abusive, and I was going through a bunch of other stuff too, which didn’t help.”
Through the help of ACCESS and her case worker, Jasmine was able to find housing, receive job coaching and leave her relationship. Since then, she’s moved into an apartment she loves and is currently continuing her goal of working in the medical field.
“My case worker helped me with my resume, job searching, apartment leads, stuff like that,” Jasmine says.

You can make a difference
With over one third of Michigan women experiencing intimate partner violence, resources aimed at tackling domestic violence are critical. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV), in a single day in 2019, “Michigan domestic violence programs provided services to 3,204 adult and child survivors.”
ACCESS is proud to be one of the many programs offering support, job coaching, housing assistance and mental health services to survivors.
Your generous donation will ensure survivors, many of whom are single mothers, have access to the resources and services they need to create safe and healthy homes for themselves and their families. If we work together, we can make a difference. Your donation will directly fund the following:
- Legal aid and services
- Transitional housing and rental assistance
- Basic needs including food, baby formula, toiletries, diapers and clothing
- Access to medical services
- Furniture and bedding
- Educational materials including school supplies
