I recently saw this headline from the Associated Press:
“Gun violence claiming more lives of American teens, children”
- Associated Press
Gun violence in our country is an epidemic -- and it will continue to get worse the longer we fail to address it.
That’s why I’m fighting to include my violence intervention measure in the Build Back Better plan -- because building back better means providing our communities with the tools and resources to stop the devastating cycle of violent crime and gun violence.
I need a swell of grassroots support behind these efforts and because you’ve taken action on gun violence before, I’m coming to you today to personally ask for your help: Will you sign on your support for breaking the cycle of violent crime and combating gun violence in our communities?
This legislation could literally save lives.
Roughly 75% of all homicides in the U.S. are committed with a gun and up to 45% of patients with gun-related injuries are reinjured by a violent crime within five years.
And gun violence is costing us $280 billion as a country every year.
My plan would give communities the resources to develop violence intervention programs focused on young people and high-risk individuals that are proven to prevent victims of violent crime from becoming repeat victims or even perpetrators.
I’m fighting to make our communities safer for my grandchildren and for all Maryland families, but I can’t do it without the help of dedicated activists like you. Please sign on your support for combating gun violence today. >>

Dutch
