John -- President Obama is calling attention to what Republicans are doing in state after state, and asking you to fight back :

Right now, state legislatures across the country are setting new boundaries for state legislative and congressional districts. And in many states, Republicans are drawing maps that allow them to hold onto power.

If we don’t stand up for democracy, we’ll see this type of gerrymandering happen in even more states. It’s why @DemRedistrict is fighting for #FairMaps. And it’s why the Senate must pass the Freedom to Vote Act to protect our communities from partisan gerrymandering.

The truth is, we're running out of time to save American democracy. In Texas, with its 38 U.S. House seats, Republicans have already gotten a rigged congressional map through the state Senate, putting it one step closer to signature. A manipulated map has also been proposed in Georgia, and key swing states like Ohio and North Carolina could be next.

President Obama has said that he believes activism will win out over cynicism -- but that can only happen if all of us do our part. Please, will you rush a donation right away to help the NDRC defeat Republican gerrymandering and support the Freedom to Vote Act?
