Dear John
Over the next 7 days we have a unique opportunity to challenge the government’s support for climate-wrecking fossil fuels.
Next Thursday, the first and only national debate in the run-up to the Glasgow climate talks will be held in the House of Commons.
Our challenge is to get as many MPs there as possible to speak out on our behalf. The more MPs we can persuade to take part, the harder it will be for the government to keep alive proposals for new oil wells, oil fields, coal mines – and its multi-million pound backing of a massive gas project in Mozambique.
Will you join thousands of others and ask your MP to speak up?

While Boris Johnson and his government claim to be climate leaders, the big fossil fuel projects they’re supporting threaten to make climate breakdown even worse.
Oil wells in Surrey, the vast new Cambo oil field off Scotland, a coal mine in Cumbria – the government still refuses to accept they’re not compatible with fixing the climate crisis.
Then there’s the $1 billion (£730 million) of public money it’s put behind a gas development in Mozambique. All at the same time as trying to sell its green credentials to the world at the upcoming climate talks in Glasgow.
It’s blatant hypocrisy.
In just a week's time, MPs will debate the Glasgow climate talks (also called COP26) and the climate emergency in the House of Commons. If we want real action from our government ahead of the summit, we need as many MPs to speak up as possible.
Now is the time to highlight the government’s hypocrisy and demand an end to UK support for fossil fuels.
I'LL ADD MY VOICE ([link removed])
When we speak up together, our collective voice is truly powerful. Together we can push MPs to act.
Best wishes,
Rachel Kennerley
