Dear John,

Network of enlightened Women chapters have been off to a great start this school year with more than 84 events planned this fall and 30 events scheduled this month at schools such as the University of Vermont, Mercer University, and Texas Tech University. NeW at the University of South Florida is one of our thriving, active chapters.

After launching the chapter on campus during Fall 2020, the women found immediate community and a place of belonging with one another. Talia Girvin, president of the chapter said this about her NeW experience,

"I joined NeW in my junior year at USF, when I was feeling isolated and alone in my conservative beliefs. I didn't have any friends that I could talk to about current events or politics. After my first meeting with NeW, I knew I had found an organization that not only filled that void of friendship, but also gave me confidence in my personal and professional life. I learned how to be a true enlightened women that led with grace, empathy, and conviction. When our NeW at USF president was looking for someone to take on her role for this year, I knew I had to step up."

On September 18, NeW at the University of South Florida hosted Cabot Phillips, Editor at The Daily Wire, for an event called "The Lies of the Left", where he encouraged students to get involved and speak up for their beliefs.

Girvin continued,

"NeW has provided me with a foundation for growth and it has became my personal mission to keep this organization alive and spread what I have gained to other women at USF. Only being a month into this school year, NeW at USF has grown from 10 members to more than 45 intelligent conservative women. I am so thankful to NeW for the countless opportunities they have provided from speakers, conferences, professional workshops, and for introducing us to friends who we can laugh with, debate, and trust."

Through public policy discussions and professional development trainings, NeW chapters like the University of South Florida are adding an important voice to the conversations occurring on and around college campuses. Are you encouraged by the intellectual diversity and narrative NeW women are bringing to campus? Please share this newsletter with a student or young professional who you think would benefit from our community.

All the best,

Meet our Conservative Woman of the Month

NeW has deemed 2021 “The Year of the Conservative Woman.” Each month we are posting a conversation with a featured Conservative Woman of the Month. We are proud to announce our October Conservative Woman of the Month is Senator Deb Fischer.

A lifelong Nebraskan, Deb Fischer is the senior senator from Nebraska. In November 2012, Fischer was elected to the U.S. Senate becoming the first Nebraska woman elected to a full term.

Before her election to the U.S. Senate, Fischer served in the Nebraska Unicameral, representing the 43rd Legislative District since 2004.

Born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska, Senator Fischer attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and graduated with a degree in education. She and her husband, Bruce, have been married for more than 40 years and own a ranching business near Valentine. They have three sons and three grandchildren.

We hope you will join us later today, October 14 at 2pm ET on Facebook Live for an engaging discussion with our inspiring Conservative Woman of the Month.
