Democratic AGs were on the frontlines of preventing extremist Republicans from overturning the 2020 election. Learn more:
Friend,
Yesterday there was a pro-Trump rally in Michigan – where angry protestors started chants of "lock her up" against Michigan’s Dem AG Dana Nessel, our pro-democracy champion who has refused to allow our electoral system to be trampled on. It is a pretty harsh reminder that the forces that gave us Donald Trump in 2016 have not gone away.
A group of extremist Republican AGs already tried to install Donald Trump as President over the lawfully cast votes of American citizens in 2020. They failed, but instead of giving way to democracy, they’re looking to elect more Republican AGs to join them.
Michigan is one of several battleground states that pro-Trump Republicans are trying to flip red by electing far-right Republican Attorneys General in 2022. And if they win AG races in these key states, their next attempt to overturn our elections could be successful.
This isn't hyperbole: the foundation of our electoral system and our democracy is at risk right now.
If we don't reelect Dem AGs, and if Donald Trump decides to run again in 2024, there's no telling whether your vote – and the votes of millions of other people – will be counted.
Just look at what Dem AG Dana Nessel said on Rachel Maddow last night about her Trump-endorsed extremist Republican opponent:
“...That’s exactly why Donald Trump supports him for the position of Michigan attorney general, knowing how crucial that position is as a swing state AG and the role that swing state AGs play in presidential elections in upholding the rule of law and ensuring the person that actually received the most votes gets our electoral votes.”
We have to protect Democratic AGs like Dana Nessel in Michigan, Aaron Ford in Nevada, and Josh Kaul in Wisconsin in 2022. But we need your help to do just that.
