John,

Laurie is a former small business owner, and like any small business owner, she knows that when something needs fixing, you need it fixed quickly. The same goes for farmers — when their equipment breaks down, every day they have to wait to get it fixed means less money in their pocket.

Right to repair is the simple idea that manufacturers should sell the tools farmers need to quickly and efficiently repair their own equipment when it breaks down. Sounds simple, right?

Unfortunately, farmers are forced to work under anti-competitive monopolies that have been created from the immense consolidation of the manufacturing industry. These massive companies that make and sell products would rather require farmers to pay out the nose for repairs, or even buy new equipment entirely, than give them the ability to fix it themselves. The bottom line: our farmers struggle while corporations profit.

While Republican Ryan Zinke will try to convince you he supports Montana’s farmers, the truth is he opposes right to repair and efforts to help family farms make ends meet.

How do we know? Because he was just the keynote speaker at a wine-and-dine industry event that opposes right to repair.

Laurie stands with Montana farmers. As a state legislator, she has consistently voted in favor of policies that would make it easier for farmers to repair their own equipment and continue making a living without paying an arm and a leg to large manufacturers who are more concerned with their bottom line than the paychecks of the folks who use their equipment.

Help us give Montana farmers a genuine advocate in Congress who will fight for their business and right to repair: chip in $10 or whatever you can to support Laurie and send her to Washington next year.

This is yet another example of Zinke saying one thing to win Montanans’ votes, but then turning around and catering to big business and throwing our best interests to the wind.

We can’t trust him to serve us in Congress, and with enough grassroots support from people like you, we can beat him less than 13 months from now.

Thanks,

Team Bishop
