Dear John,

Late last night, the Texas House approved the new Texas legislative maps. I voted no and I want to tell you why.

While Texas' growth over the last decade has been driven by people of color, the proposed districts dilute their voices and make it harder to elect the candidates of their choice. I also refuse to carve up our neighborhoods and communities of interest for partisan gain.

Texans deserve better from their leaders. Since you first elected me in 2018, I've fought every day for common sense, kitchen table issues like strong public schools, access to healthcare, and opportunity for all.

I'm running for re-election to House District 136, which now includes Northwest Austin, Cedar Park, Brushy Creek, and Round Rock. I'm asking for your support to continue working for the people of Williamson County.

Will you chip in to our re-election campaign? We need to raise $5,000 online this week to get off to a strong start.

In the last legislative session, I led the fight for the freedom to vote and access to affordable healthcare while pushing for support and relief for our families and small businesses as we recover from COVID-19 and the Winter Storm.

We have a lot of work left to do. I hope you'll continue in this fight with me. Now more than ever, our future is at stake. And the choices we make, from the halls of Congress, to the state house, to city hall, will define who we are as a people and what sort of world we build for future generations.

Our fight ahead remains hard, but we must remain hopeful. Together, we can build our community up and make Texas as good as its promise. Join me!

All the best,

John
