The Supreme Court recently ruled that DC should not have representation in Congress, but DC residents fighting for statehood are not backing down.
Home to around 700,000 people and paying almost the equivalent of New York’s tax burden, DC has borne the responsibilities of citizenship without full rights and privileges for over 200 years. In addition, DC’s lack of voting power has not only allowed racial and economic inequity to grow and continues to silence the voices of over half a million Americans every year.
We want to hear from you: do you think DC should become the United States’ 51st state?
