Friend --

Are you frustrated by the slow pace of progress right now?

If so, I get it. Sometimes it feels like every headline is designed to chip away at our hope.

But here's the thing: The biggest contributor to the gridlock is corporate political spending, much of it through dark money groups and special interest PACs. The status quo works for those dark money donors, and they're counting on you to lose hope.

I'm counting on you not to.

We've got a mid-month fundraising deadline this Friday, and a goal of rallying 1,000 grassroots supporters before then. Will you chip in now to show the dark money groups trying to capture Congress that we're not giving up?

Here's the situation: Several crucial bills are making their way through Congress right now -- a bipartisan infrastructure bill, the Build Back Better Act, and the Freedom to Vote Act, to name just a few.

These bills have widespread popular support among voters, but you wouldn't know it from how slowly they're moving through Congress. The fact is, political spending has skewed the incentives for many lawmakers. It's a problem for members of both parties, and it means negotiations can go on for months.

I'm one of the only members of Congress who doesn't take a dime from PACs, lobbyists, or other members of Congress. That makes it easy to support legislation that the majority of Americans support, from making child care more affordable to investing in clean energy.

I'm not giving up, and I'm counting on you to stick with me. So I'm humbly asking: Will you invest in my campaign before Friday's deadline? Your contribution will help me keep working for progress as we go toe-to-toe against the GOP's money machine.

As you follow the news coming out of Congress, keep this in mind: Optimism is just as contagious as fear and cynicism. That's the message I bring to the Hill every day -- and I hope you'll spread it, too.

Keep the faith,

Dean
