This tweet sums up what the Texas Legislature did to our democracy last night:

Ever since Donald Trump began promoting the “big lie” that the 2020 election was “stolen,” Republicans in state legislatures have been passing draconian laws designed to restrict voting access and rig democracy against itself.

They’ve limited ballot access, reduced voting hours, and restricted mail-in voting. Now, they’ve taken the next step by implementing racist, gerrymandered maps intent on disenfranchising communities of color.

The Freedom to Vote Act proposed by Democrats in Congress would ban racial and partisan gerrymandering, but we’re running out of time to pass it before new maps become law.

This bill will only become law if Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema agree to reform the filibuster. So today, we’re asking you to add your name to our petition demanding that Manchin and Sinema do just that.

Boot Texas Republicans is committed to flipping our state from red to blue for the first time in decades. But that won’t be possible if not all Texans are eligible to vote.

We need to stand up for our democracy -- no matter how hard.
