On Wednesday, I questioned Mark Zuckerberg about Facebook’s plan to create Libra, its own digital cryptocurrency and digital wallet.

Mark Zuckerberg has proven that the American people cannot trust him with our emails or phone numbers, so I asked why we would trust him with our hard-earned dollars. The answer? We can’t.

And, while millions of families lack the wealth to open a bank account and continue to struggle with the consequences of underbanking, Facebook’s plan does little but exacerbate existing wealth and income inequality.

Man-made policy has created the wealth disparities that so many in our communities experience today, and it’s our responsibility to pursue intentional, empathetic policies that will close existing gaps.

Make a grassroots contribution today to support our movement to address the country’s economic disparities, and fight back against policies that would only worsen the economic divide. The only way we will tackle this crisis is through a coalition of folks who believe in and support the fight for economic justice.
