| | Critical Federal Call to Action: Keep Affordable Housing in the Build Back Better Plan |
| |
|
| As Congress works to finalize the $3.5T Budget Reconciliation Bill, we need your voice to keep housing in the Build Back Better Plan! Help build on the momentum we created together early this month with our letter to Speaker Pelosi and Senators Feinstein and Padilla, with signatures from more than 600 NPH members and partners. (Thank you to those of you who signed onto our letter!) Take Action: Community Change is running phone banks that target critical members of the House and Senate and they need your help! Phone banking is the most effective action we can take together this week to ensure this legislation passes. |

| | Upcoming Shift the Bay Events, Today and Throughout Fall! |
| |
|
| The Shift the Bay Initiative, a coalition-driven initiative to advance housing and racial justice in the Bay Area through strategic and research-based messaging and narrative tactics, is offering three upcoming learning opportunities, including one TODAY at 1PM: - Opinion Pieces (op-eds, LTEs, ed board memos), TODAY, October 13 (1pm-3pm)
Do you know when you should write each kind of opinion piece? What are the elements and structure of a good op-ed? How can you increase your chances of it being published? And once you're done drafting, where and how do you submit it to media outlets? Join us with M+R Communications to explore these questions and more! - Narrative Strategy & You, Wednesday, October 20 (12pm - 2pm)
In this virtual workshop, renowned national expert (and long-time Shift the Bay partner) Dr. Tiffany Manuel and her CaseMade colleagues will guide participants through an interactive workshop, examining specific campaign examples, reviewing big picture guidance that we can all organize under, and facilitating constructive peer learning. - Tips for Media Interviews, Wednesday, November 17 (12pm - 1:30pm)
Join us again with M+R Communications to explore what to do before, during and after an interview with a reporter to shape the news story and build the reporter relationship. We’ll share tips to stay on message and pivot back to your message when an interview question isn’t about what you want to talk about. Stay on top of all the upcoming Shift the Bay news and events by signing up for the Shift the Bay mailing list. |
