Academic ‘thought police’ rolled out the latest tool to stifle free speech and intimidate students at the University of Oklahoma, and Speech First is sounding the alarm!
‘OU Report It!’ is a mechanism that encourages students to anonymously report their classmates and fellow students. While this program may sound Orwellian, initiatives like this are frequently used by students, professors, and administrators to frighten and silence those who express minority or “controversial” viewpoints.
Speech First stands firmly against Bias Response Teams and the speech-chilling policies they support.
Speech First is a nationwide membership organization of students, alumni, and other concerned citizens, and we’re dedicated to preserving civil rights secured by law, including the freedom of speech guaranteed by the First Amendment.
Speech First seeks to protect the rights of students and others at colleges and universities through litigation and other lawful means.
We’re rolling out a new tool to fight back against Censor Squads.
Censor Squads are appointed groups at colleges and universities across the country which encourage students to report “bias incidents” they observe on campus. These teams consist of faculty, staff, and sometimes law enforcement.
Students are encouraged to report “bias incidents” to these groups in the name of “inclusion” and “tolerance.”
Overly broad or vague definitions of bias put all kinds of speech at risk of being reported — even unpopular speech which is protected by the First Amendment.
Political speech – especially that of conservative and libertarian students – and satire are particularly vulnerable because the system favors students who easily take offense and push a “woke” agenda.
Speech First is exposing these Orwellian groups for what they are – a fundamental assault on our First Amendment and the unique cultural respect for the right to free speech in this country.

We identify victims of anti-free speech policies and equip them with the resources to
fight back. We’ll even take a university to court to protect your First Amendment rights!
