Incredible John:
Texas gained two new congressional districts after the 2020 census thanks to population growth fueled by communities of color. But in this year’s round of redistricting, Republicans are aiming to make the state even safer territory for their party. Here’s how they’re going to do it:
New York Times: “How Texas Plans to Make Its House Districts Even Redder”
"1. Adding a Republican district in Harris County”
"2. Splitting Dallas into more large and rural areas”
"3. Consolidating Democratic growth in Austin”
"4. Spreading out the Latino vote”
PITCH IN TO FIGHT BACK! >> [link removed]
We have staff on the ground working feverishly to expose GOP map manipulators for what they are and mobilize our grassroots supporters in favor of fair maps. If we can make it clear that voters are watching, we can still affect this process.
But John, we’re counting on your grassroots support to do it. Since our launch in 2017 this grassroots team has made incredible progress in the fight for fair maps -- but it all comes down to what happens in these final few weeks!
The NDRC is working around the clock to fight back and demand fair maps in Texas and around the country. But we’re running out of time, and we need your help! Will you pitch in now to help us keep fighting until the very last minute?
Thanks,
Team NDRC
