Successful events and media mayhem

[link removed]
Good afternoon,

We had an amazing week at Conservative Party Conference.

Not only did we host several successful panel events, partner with leading organisations for a packed-out reception, and bring free market, liberal ideas to hundreds of new and old friends alike, but our comments on Prime Minister Boris Johnson's closing speech made quite the media splash.

Keep reading for a full recap of a very busy few days!

** OUR EVENTS
------------------------------------------------------------
The cornerstone of our Conference agenda were our panel events. Featuring leading politicians, academics, campaigners, and business leaders, our panels explored a number of topical issues through a free market lens.

From clean free trade to the UK's approach to vaping; housing and free speech, the ASI events were entertaining, informative, and engaging.

Each event was packed full of attendees ready to listen to and even sometimes challenge our panelists. And in good news for those of you who couldn't join us in person, we have recordings of all the events up now on our YouTube channel. Do check them out below.

And you can count on us to be back with another full schedule of events next year!

And after our full schedule of events at Conservative Party Conference, the ASI made a splash across the headlines, TV screens, and airwaves following our comments on the Prime Minister’s closing speech.

While we thought that Boris’ speech was great for rallying the troops behind a high-wage, high-productivity, low-tax economy, we thought that it lacked any real solutions on how to achieve this. In fact, many of this Government’s recent policies are driving us in the opposite direction. As such, we called it 'bombastic but vacuous and economically illiterate'.

Our quote - found here in full ([link removed]) - made the front pages of The Guardian ([link removed]) , CityAM, and The Independent.

It also featured in The Times ([link removed]) , The Telegraph ([link removed]) , the Wall Street Journal ([link removed]) , The Daily Mail ([link removed]) , Sky News online ([link removed]) , The Independent ([link removed]) , The Evening Standard ([link removed]) , The National ([link removed]) .

Our excellent team furthered the buzz on
Sky News ([link removed]) (more than once), LBC ([link removed]) , Times Radio ([link removed]) , TalkRADIO, and GB News ([link removed]) (more than twice).

The quote was put to Education Secretary Nadhim Zahawi several times as he did the morning media round, including on BBC’s Today Programme, Sky News with Niall Paterson and Nick Ferrari on LBC ([link removed]) . Without surprise, he didn't quite agree with us but he did have a lot of positive things to say about the ASI-backed Super Deduction ([link removed]) .

And we’ve got plenty of journalists doing our work for us as Ben Wright from The Telegraph ([link removed]) , the FT’s Jim Pickard ([link removed]) , LBC’s Matthew Thompson ([link removed]) , CityAM editor Andy Silvester ([link removed]) , Political Correspondent at the Guardian Aubrey Allegretti ([link removed]) , the Chief Political Correspondent at the I Newspaper ([link removed]) , and the Westminster Correspondent for The Scotsman ([link removed]) all spread our quote across social media to a cumulative audience of hundreds of thousands.

** BONUS: Labour Party Conference
------------------------------------------------------------
Some of you may have seen that we did indeed go to Labour Party Conference in Brighton where we were joined by the New Statesman's Stephen Bush, The Spectator's Katy Balls, Ben Guerin from Topham Guerin, Mike Harris of 89up and Simon Gregory of BBH London.

One of the only free-market think tanks to reach over to the other side, our panel of amazing speakers challenged Labour to become a stronger opposition party - something we think will result in better policy outcomes across the board.

Our event was incredibly well-received, ultimately being standing room only. We had an engaged audience who asked very insightful questions of our panelists and even remarked how interested they were to hear of some of the ASI's core policies.

I've heard it was one of the best fringe events at Labour - certainly the most sound.
Of course, none of this could have happened without the support of our friends who allow us to do this work, hold the Government to account, and take our message to the millions of Brits who feel the same - and the many more who are yet to be convinced.

You can find all of these media appearances on our social media ([link removed]) , so do give us a follow if you haven’t already. Otherwise, you can count on me to keep you updated.

As always, reach out with any questions, comments, or concerns.
Yours,
E
