Last night, Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued another Executive Order, this time banning all entities — including private businesses — from requiring COVID-19 vaccine mandates for employees or customers.
He did this with no regards for how small businesses and their employees will suffer the most. The order comes as a sharp reversal to his earlier position. Abbott gave private businesses in Texas the choice to mandate vaccines for their workers in late August stating "private businesses don't need government running their business".
Governor Abbott has now effectively moved to strip Texans of our freedom to make personal choices. Whether it's via reproductive care or preventive medicines like vaccines, Abbott has cruelly wedged himself in between Texans and our doctors, our businesses, our elections — even our schools — all within the span of one summer.
