As you know, I’m a dad first, which means I’m constantly thinking about what kind of world my children will live in when they grow up.  

One of my big questions is, what will happen to our Internet? I spoke to Nicole Wallace about this very topic last week on MSNBC, because as a father, I’ll be the first to admit the way we regulate tech companies needs an overhaul. 

We have an opportunity to connect our children to the world, but we also have a responsibility to shield them from bad actors and predatory corporations. I’ll be honest: I am nervous about how my children will interact with Instagram and Facebook.

But one thing that comforts me is the newest generation of political leaders rising to the occasion and making their way into the halls of Congress. These young people get it, and I firmly believe their understanding of the tech industry will help us pass reforms that protect Americans of all ages. Will you help us continue to get this new generation more seats at the table in next year’s midterms?

Congress should look like our country and millennials currently comprise the biggest age demographic. Their experience with social media issues is simply different than that of the establishment guys in D.C. In the 2018 midterms when we flipped the House, we elected 29 new Democrats to Congress in their 40s and under — and John, I believe we can do the very same in 2022.

It’s not complicated: We need new ideas to solve new problems. So today, I’m asking you to make an investment in your children and their future. 

I am confident in this next generation’s ability to navigate the issues of our day. Let’s send them to D.C. and give them an opportunity to create change for everyday Americans.
