The September NEWsflash
Friend,

Welcome back to the September edition of The NEWsflash, a collection of incredible stories and events that happened in Northeast Wisconsin during this past month. September was exciting for more reasons than just the return of Packers football. In September, my team and I were able to welcome new businesses, connect with veterans in our community, and support kids as they returned to school.

I've included some photos and highlights from a few of the events my team and I were able to attend. You can also find information on how my office can help you with any federal problem you may have. As always, please don't hesitate to contact my office if we can ever be of assistance.

Semper Fi,
Man's Thrifty Best Friend: My staff attended the ribbon cutting for JDog Junk Removal's new thrift shop in Appleton. The veteran owned company does it all from picking up junk to demolition to thrifting.
Refreshing News: In early September, my staff attended the ribbon cutting for Face Foundrie, an all-inclusive facial bar with expert staff. It's great to see new companies like this starting in Northeast Wisconsin, and I have no doubt they'll help our community put its best face forward.
A Place to Call Home: On September 8th, the Freedom House opened a new location and shelter to help homeless families in the Green Bay area. This new location can shelter 4 more families than their previous facility and provide educational opportunities for those facing homelessness. It's inspiring to see members of our community pick each other up and support each other when they need it.
Never Forgotten: Outside of the Brown County Courthouse, a group gathered to remember 26 Wisconsin prisoners of war and soldiers missing in action from the Vietnam War. My team was honored to participate in reading each of the servicemember's names and remembering the sacrifice they made for our nation.
Reaching New Heights: Fincantieri Marinette Marine is making headway on their largest building yet. Standing over 130 feet tall and spreading more than two football fields, the building will be used to construct the Navy's new frigate-class ships. My team was amazed by the massive structure, and proud that our district contributes in such an important way to our naval forces.
NEW Land: Northeast Wisconsin Land Trust hosted its annual Land Fest at Wequiock Creek Natural Area in Green Bay on Sept. 11th to announce the planned restoration of the 73-acre parcel on the east side of the bay. My team was excited to attend and learn more about how the restoration of wetlands impacts water quality and biodiversity.
A Home for Recovery: Last month, the Jackie Nitschke Center finalized its new renovation. The center helps men recovering from substance abuse and gives them a home to help work through the process. I am so excited to see the impact the Center will have in the community and the good work that will be done there.
Training WI's Future Workers: Thw Luxemburg-Casco School District recently dedicated its new Ahnapee Diesel Center within the Casco Career Academy. Ahnapee Diesel is the first program in Wisconsin to focus solely on diesel while providing students with high school and college credits. This type of hands on work teaches students the real-life skills they need to thrive in Wisconsin's workforce. It's great to see this trailblazing program start right here in our community.
Star Bright: On September 26, Gold Star Family Day, my team attended Blue Star Mother's and Little Chute American Legion Post #258's Luminary event to light luminaries for the heroes from Northeast Wisconsin who sacrificed their lives for our nation. They did a great job hosting the event, and everyone in attendance was able to honor those they've lost in a special way that lit up the night.
