From refusing to comply with subpoenas, to preventing key witnesses from testifying, to orchestrating a stunt that involved 47 lawmakers breaching a secure room
to delay the testimony of a key witness, Trump and his allies are employing every tactic they can—no matter how legally offensive—to preserve their power, not American democracy. Without the career diplomats and whistleblowers who are courageously coming forward to unmask the abuses of power that they have witnessed, Trump and his allies will continue to erode the most fundamental principle of our democracy: the rule of law.

This rash decision paved the way for a long-threatened Turkish incursion into Syria.
