OCA TO HONOR T-MOBILE, 7 ASIAN AMERICAN LEADERS AT 30TH ANNUAL CORPORATE ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS GALA

Dr. Karen Eng, Board Chair of the Asian/Pacific Islander American Chamber of Commerce and Entrepreneurship, will receive the 2021 OCA Executive Excellence Award.

Washington, D.C. — OCA-Asian Pacific American Advocates announced Tuesday that it will honor T-Mobile and seven outstanding individuals at its 30th annual Corporate Achievement Awards Gala on October 15 for their dedication to serving Asian American communities.

The Corporate Achievement Awards (CAA), established in 1991 by OCA’s Business Advisory Council, is the first of its kind to celebrate Asian American excellence and achievement in the corporate sector. Over the course of three decades, roughly 250 corporate leaders and over a dozen corporate partners have received honors.

The following individuals were named 2021 Corporate Achievement Awardees:
  • Arun Mukherjee, Sr. Manager and Associate Director, RIS International Sourcing, Raytheon
  • Sean Wang, Director, Certification Programs, CTIA
  • Bao Hoang, Vice President, Branch Manager, Wells Fargo
  • David Lin, Vice President of Public Affairs and Advocacy, IW Group, Inc.
  • Erwin Tan, Director of Thought Leadership – Health, AARP
  • Sonali Batra, Director of Digital Strategy and Brand Engagement, Walmart. Inc.

Honorees were nominated by their respective employers and selected to receive awards by an independent panel of judges. All will be honored at a virtual gala hosted by OCA National Center at 6 PM ET on Friday, October 15.

Separately, Dr. Karen Eng, the President and CEO of the engineering firm CSMI, was named the recipient of the 2021 OCA Executive Excellence Award, which recognizes a single leader that has been exemplary in empowering the next generation of Asian Americans. Dr. Eng currently serves as Board Chair of the Asian/Pacific Islander American Chamber of Commerce and Entrepreneurship (National ACE) and has worked to mentor girls, women, and minority business owners—particularly those in STEM-related industries.

OCA will also honor T-Mobile as its 2021 Outstanding Corporate Partner, with T-Mobile’s Vice President for Policy & Advocacy Clint Odom accepting the award. In addition to being a member of OCA’s Business Advisory Council, T-Mobile launched an External Diversity and Inclusion Council, creating yet another channel of communication between the company and civil rights groups. T-Mobile was also one of the first companies to reach out to OCA to discuss the rise in anti-Asian violence following the shootings in Atlanta in March.
