Lead With Influence

Online group seminar, Nov. 22-Dec. 13, 2021

Most leadership training is designed for supervisors who have direct reports. But in today’s newsrooms, leaders are just as often responsible for projects, products or people across departments. Demonstrating leadership without formal authority is its own skill, and it’s core to this new online leadership workshop from Poynter.

In addition to exchanging ideas and experiences with other talented leaders, you'll have the opportunity to discuss your job's challenges with an experienced coach during a private, 45-minute session. Coaches include Kim Fox ([link removed]) , vice president of product strategy at Cal Matters, Brittany Lee Grant ([link removed]) , director of audience development and insights at The Undefeated, and Christina Tapper ([link removed]) , executive producer of original content at Spotify.

Cost: $450. Apply by Nov. 1, 2021.

In the first part of the webinar, you’ll hear from redistricting and data experts about what the process looks like in 2021. Then, you’ll hear from experienced journalists about their best stories, tips and lessons from covering redistricting in the past.
