Superman Goes Woke
Have you seen the latest in the seemingly never-ending saga of "Our Broken Culture"?
Superman is now gay.
DC Comics celebrated October 11 - now "National Coming Out Day" - by announcing that Jon Kent, the son of Clark Kent and the new Superman, will be starting up a homosexual romance with his best friend in upcoming comics.
Is there no area of culture that they do not seek to wage a full indoctrination war against our children?
I simply never could have imagined a world where Superman was "unsafe" for children. Yet, that's where we are. On every front, our kids are under attack.
In the coming days, Frontline Policy Action will announce a legislative agenda aimed at protecting children.
However, we must do more than work to pass good bills. That's why Frontline Policy Council will soon announce a series of efforts aimed at helping churches and parents safeguard the next generation - a generation that cannot go to school, turn on the TV, or flip through a comic book without being targeted by a sexual agenda.
Please be on the look out for new information coming from us.
In the meantime, I've included the latter half of Romans 1 for you. I read it with my children a few nights ago. Important points:
* God has made His truth known - we are "without excuse."
* Notice how closely connected a refusal to honor God is with sexual immorality. Failing to honor God first leads to creating a new image of God but the second consequence is sexual immorality - a direct affront to God's design and intentionality.
* See also how sexual immorality leads to God "[giving] them up" to their passions, unleashing a sin cycle and complete cultural debauchery.
* Remember, however, God's promise in 1 Chronicles 7:14 "if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land." God's people are the solution!
* As you read a passage of Scripture that can be a little gloomy and you look out in our culture and see it playing out, HAVE HOPE. This sick, twisted nation is not outside of God's control or His plan. It's not surprising to Him that we have embraced wickedness. Take comfort in that - that all is going according to plan for the God who has promised to be at work for the good of His people.
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world,[g] in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.
26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.
28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. 29 They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32 Though they know God's righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.
