As more and more of our communities experience the severe consequences of climate change, like extreme weather events, heat waves, flooding, and dangerous air quality, it’s clear that we are running out of time to act to stop the most devastating effects of climate change.

This year, the United Nations issued a new report on climate change that called the warning signs around us a “code red for humanity.” The extreme heat and historic fires we have already experienced this summer are just the latest warning signs.

But we also know that working people and communities of color are already affected disproportionately by climate change — and are facing the brunt of the crisis.
