Happy Friday!

What a week it has been in Washington, DC. Over the weekend, I joined a small group of Congressmembers at Camp David, the Presidential Retreat. Then on Tuesday, I joined President Trump in the Cabinet Room at the White House. Vice President Mike Pence also stopped by our meeting with an update for us on big news, like the ceasefire negotiations with Turkey, which President Trump announced the next day.

Casework Highlight

A constituent contacted our office because she needed help correcting her military personnel file with her retirement point documents from when she moved from active duty to the national guard. Retirement points are part of the determination for how much retirement one is eligible for, so it is important for it to be accurate. She has served since 1985 and needed it corrected since she was nearing retirement. My office was able to get the Department of Defense to correct her records in under 60 days!

Academy Applications Due October 31st

Interested in attending a military service academy? Members of Congress may nominate candidates for appointment to four of the five U.S. service academies: U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment. Academy applications are due to my office on October 31, 2019.
